Objectives

The “Embrace Nourishing Trace on Environmental Race” training course was developed with a clear objective of empowering youth workers with the knowledge, skills, and strategies to cope with environmental issues in a collaborative manner. In this sense, we relied on 7R Framework containing different elements including Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle, Rethink, and Reclaim. In this sense, we sought to create a meaningful and long-lasting impact, not only on the participants but also on their local communities by integrating environmental skills. By implementing this project, we aimed to address the issues, such as waste management and environmental degradation by promoting active involvement and ecological competence among youth workers. The objectives of the training course were multifaceted, responding to global environmental problems and the specific needs of the local communities identified by the partner organizations as a result of the pre-project research. As our primary goal, we wanted to increase youth workers’ understanding about effective waste management practices and their ecological consequences. In general, our main objectives were as follows: -To educate youth workers on the ecological impact of waste and the distinctions between various waste types to foster informed decision-making. -To equip participants with strategies to identify and address undesirable waste behaviors and help youth understand the origins and consequences of improper waste management. -To encourage youth workers to engage and inspire young people to adopt the 7R Framework of zero waste living (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle, Rethink, Reclaim). -To motivate youth workers to participate in community-based zero waste initiatives, promoting societal empowerment and environmental responsibility. -To encourage the shift away from harmful production and consumption practices by supporting eco-friendly ideas and exploring sustainable solutions. -To support participants in reflecting on their skills and achievements through Youthpass certificates , improving their employability and capacity as youth workers. -To enhance waste management practices within youth organizations by introducing innovative methods and tools for achieving zero waste. -To promote the sharing of resources, ideas, and best practices through the creation of collaborative workshops among youth workers and organizations. -To increase participants’ sense of belonging to the European Union by addressing global problems and fostering collective action for environmental sustainability. In conclusion, by realizing our collective initiative, we intended to create a ripple effect, in which knowledge, skills, and resources are exchanged among youth workers with the aim of safeguarding the environment for future generations.
