Our Project Scope Our project was implemented to increase youth workers’ earthquake awareness and develop their knowledge and skills. The main motivation of our project was to instill the fact that disasters, especially earthquakes, are a natural reality and that although these disasters cannot be prevented, their effects can be reduced through education and awareness. Reasons for Implementing Our Project: Insufficient Earthquake Awareness: In many countries, the lack of earthquake education and the fact that unconscious behaviors in the face of disasters increase the loss of life and property are important problems. Raising awareness and informing youth workers on this issue contributed to raising awareness in society in general. Unplanned and Unplanned Urbanization: In large cities, unplanned and unplanned urbanization, along with infrastructural deficiencies, cause natural disasters such as earthquakes to have more destructive consequences. Therefore, becoming more sensitive to urbanization processes and creating earthquake awareness in these processes was of critical importance. Inadequate Earthquake Education: The lack of sufficient coverage of disaster management issues in educational curricula has led to a lack of awareness on the subject, especially among youth workers and the wider society. Addressing this deficiency and increasing the knowledge and experience of youth workers has contributed to taking correct and effective steps in the event of a possible earthquake in the future. Project Goals: 1-Within the scope of the project, youth workers were provided with a deeper understanding of the nature, risks and consequences of earthquakes. They were encouraged to learn about pre-earthquake preparations, what to do during an earthquake and post-earthquake recovery processes. In this way, youth workers were supported to become more conscious and prepared both individually and socially. 2-With the project, youth workers disseminated the information they gained to the society and raised awareness of how to ensure safety during an earthquake, appropriate behavioral models and the paths to be followed in post-disaster interventions. In this way, it was aimed to increase the general disaster management skills of the society. 3-Youth workers were made aware of not only local but also global disasters and natural disasters. The global effects of natural disasters such as earthquakes were addressed and young people were made to understand the importance of global cooperation and become more responsible individuals in finding solutions to these problems. 4- During the project process, it was ensured that youth workers not only gained knowledge but also achieved tangible gains as a result of their active participation in the project. 5- Within the scope of the project, equal conditions and opportunities were provided to all youth workers, and it was aimed that each individual would contribute to the project equally and benefit from it. This goal especially encouraged the participation of disadvantaged youth workers in the project and ensured that they also had equal opportunities. 6- Since our project has an international structure, youth workers were encouraged to develop their foreign language skills by communicating with other youth workers from different countries. 7- Youth workers from different countries and cultures were allowed to come together and interact with each other, understand cultural diversity and respect different perspectives. 8- The project provided opportunities for youth workers to develop both their personal and professional skills and encouraged them to use their potential in the best way. During this process, they were provided with competencies such as leadership, problem solving and crisis management. 9- Considering the importance of the digital world, youth workers were encouraged to develop their digital skills. The use of digital platforms and technologies was encouraged during the project process, thus increasing digital awareness and skills. 10- Our project aimed to strengthen the capacities of not only youth workers but also project partners. Project partners became more active in disaster management, international cooperation and project implementation processes. 11- Greater awareness was created about the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ Program and the contributions of this program to youth workers. Youth workers were encouraged to continue their personal and professional development by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by Erasmus+.
