The S.T.R.A.T.E.G.Y. project aimed to address key challenges by promoting sustainable tourism as an integrated strategy. This approach not only sought to preserve the environment but also contributed to local economic development by offering new job opportunities and improving the quality of life in rural areas. We believed that the active engagement of young people was essential to ensure the long-term sustainability of any initiative. Through the project, youth workers had the opportunity to acquire practical skills and innovative strategies to motivate local youth to become key actors in promoting and enhancing the opportunities offered by sustainable tourism. Project Objectives: 1. To promote sustainable tourism and raise awareness among participants about its importance in rural areas—preserving the environment while supporting local development—in line with the principles of the European Green Deal and the EU Rural Pact. 2. To share and disseminate best practices from the participants’ regions on non-formal education approaches related to sustainable tourism. 3. To develop skills and provide youth workers with practical tools and innovative strategies for engaging young people in the promotion and practice of sustainable tourism. 4. To stimulate transnational cooperation and foster the creation of networks among participants from partner countries, laying the groundwork for future synergies with other European organizations working on similar themes. Key Results: - Sustainable Tourism Toolkit: Development of a practical toolkit containing guidelines and useful resources for promoting sustainable tourism as a strategy for rural development, with a particular focus on the European Green Deal and the EU Rural Pact. - Pilot Projects: Design and implementation of two pilot initiatives submitted for the February 2025 Erasmus+ call, currently awaiting results. These pilots aim to test and validate the proposed methodologies in diverse international contexts.
