The T1Alert project achieved several key objectives through its tailored activities. It raised awareness by increasing understanding of the challenges faced by young people with diabetes, especially in education, work and sports, and by combating stigma through various campaigns and dissemination activities. It promoted social inclusion and active participation of young people with diabetes by creating a supportive environment through the T1Alert Resource Bank. The project enhanced knowledge exchange by providing opportunities for local actors to learn from peers across Europe, improving best practices and methodologies through the training and capacity-building of 10 youth workers. It also strengthened the capacity of youth workers and organizations via targeted training and comprehensive resources, ensuring they are well-equipped to support young people with diabetes. Furthermore, the project created a structured support system by developing a network of stakeholders to ensure sustained support for young people with diabetes and amplify the project's impact. Finally, T1Alert generated positive social impact by fostering a supportive community, reducing isolation and stigma through awareness campaigns and community engagement.
The T1Alert project was launched to address key needs and gaps in support for young people with diabetes. Firstly, there is a significant lack of understanding and awareness about the challenges these individuals face, especially in education, work, and sports. The project aims to raise awareness and provide accurate information to dismantle stereotypes and promote inclusivity. Secondly, local organizations often work in isolation with limited opportunities to interact with international peers. T1Alert facilitates the sharing of best practices and experiences among organizations across Europe, enhancing their capabilities. Moreover, many youth workers and organizations lack the necessary resources and training to effectively support young people with diabetes. The project addresses this by developing the T1Alert Resource Bank and conducting targeted training sessions. Additionally, there is a need for a structured support system that connects young people with diabetes to resources and support. T1Alert maps stakeholders to create a supportive network, ensuring sustained impact. Finally, the project seeks to combat social stigma and isolation through awareness campaigns and community engagement, fostering a supportive environment.
