Objectives

We aimed to improve the digital safety and the psychophysical well-being of teenagers, especially those aged 13–17 and from disadvantaged backgrounds. We sought to increase the knowledge of young people, parents, and educators about online risks such as cyberbullying, grooming, and disinformation. A key goal was to promote the active involvement of youth workers and young people aged 18–25, including those with fewer opportunities, by engaging them in meaningful learning and exchange. We also wanted to raise public and policymaker awareness of the urgent need to protect minors online. Finally, we aimed to strengthen our partners' skills on the topic of digital safety and enhance their ability to collaborate in international contexts. These objectives have been achieved through educational activities, international cooperation, and awareness-raising efforts aligned with EU priorities on digital transformation, youth participation, and inclusion.

Background

We applied for this project because we recognized the urgent need to improve the online safety of teenagers, especially those aged 13–17, who are increasingly exposed to risks such as cyberbullying, grooming, disinformation, and identity theft. Although tech-savvy, young people lack the life experience to critically navigate the digital world. This situation has alarmed parents, educators, and youth workers, who often feel unprepared to support them. The project has addressed a growing digital divide and the lack of digital literacy and awareness, particularly among disadvantaged youth. Inspired by EU initiatives like BIK+ and the European Youth Strategy, we have aimed to empower young people, enhance media literacy, and promote safer digital environments. We believed that by creating tools, raising awareness, and involving all key stakeholders, we could contribute to a safer, more inclusive internet for all.
