Objectives

By implementing UNIQUE, we aimed to enhance the quality and inclusivity of Youth Work through creative, non-formal education methods. Our first goal was to support mutual learning among youth organizations by co-developing innovative tools—based on storytelling, theatre, and installations—that respond to both shared European challenges and specific local needs. This collaboration helped bring a European dimension into local Youth Work practices. The second objective was to foster inclusion and diversity in local communities by engaging young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities, in meaningful, creative processes. The project gave them a platform to share their stories, raise awareness, and strengthen their role in society. These aims aligned with the Erasmus+ horizontal priorities “Inclusion and Diversity” and “Increasing quality, innovation and recognition of youth work.” Through new methodologies and shared practices, the project promoted participation, creativity, and personal growth, offering lasting value to both participants and the wider youth sector.

Background

We applied for this project to tackle the urgent need for inclusive opportunities for marginalized youth, particularly those with fewer opportunities, limited education, or those facing cultural, economic, and social obstacles. The project addressed the lack of creative and accessible spaces where these young people can express themselves, build their identity, and acquire soft skills critical for their personal and professional growth. We observed a growing disconnection among youth due to post-pandemic isolation and insufficient support structures, which has led to reduced participation in community and civic life. Furthermore, youth workers lacked tools and methodologies tailored to inclusive and creative practices. Through UNIQUE, we aimed to foster social inclusion, boost self-confidence, and enhance creative expression by providing structured, non-formal learning environments. The transnational dimension allowed sharing good practices and empowering both participants and youth workers through innovative, replicable models of engagement.
