Our project, "MentalFit Journey," took place in Rustavi and Kazbegi, Georgia, from August 5-12, 2024. Bringing together 28 young participants and leaders from Liechtenstein, Georgia, Austria, and Hungary, we aimed to tackle the pressing issue of youth mental health by creating a supportive space where participants could openly discuss their well-being while engaging in sports and exploring healthy lifestyles. Each year, our initiative focuses on a specific theme, and this year’s emphasis on mental health responded to the increasing pressures and challenges faced by young people in today’s fast-paced world. Stress, anxiety, and other mental health struggles have become more prevalent, making it crucial to provide young people with tools to navigate these challenges effectively. Objectives of the Project - Breaking the stigma around mental health by fostering open conversations and raising awareness among young individuals. - Providing practical strategies to help participants manage stress and anxiety through the integration of sports and physical activities. - Building a strong sense of community by encouraging supportive relationships and peer connections across cultures. - Encouraging healthy lifestyle habits that participants could integrate into their daily lives. - Fostering intercultural learning by immersing participants in a multilingual and multicultural environment, strengthening their European identity. - Empowering young people to take charge of their mental and physical well-being while developing resilience and self-confidence. Through workshops, team activities, and cultural exchanges, the project created a dynamic and inclusive space where participants could develop new skills, explore their personal growth, and form lasting friendships across borders. By prioritizing youth involvement in shaping the program, we ensured a participant-driven experience that nurtured self-expression, mutual understanding, and long-term well-being. By combining mental well-being, physical activity, and intercultural exchange, "MentalFit Journey" not only provided participants with valuable coping strategies but also strengthened their sense of belonging within a supportive international community.
