The MEDIASAFE project was implemented in response to the increasing risks young people face in digital environments, particularly on social media platforms. Many young people actively use social media but lack the skills to critically evaluate information, recognize online risks, and manage safe digital behaviour. The project aimed to empower young people to become more conscious, responsible, and critical users of social media while strengthening their digital wellbeing and intercultural understanding. The project also contributes to Erasmus+ priorities such as digital transformation, inclusion, and youth participation, by promoting safe digital engagement, equal access to digital competences, and active involvement of young people in shaping responsible online environments. The main objectives were to raise awareness about online risks such as misinformation, cyberbullying, privacy issues, and digital addiction; to improve digital literacy and critical thinking skills; to develop competences for safe and responsible social media use; to promote respectful and positive online communication; and to foster intercultural dialogue, cooperation, and active youth participation.
