Air pollution is one of the leading causes of mortality in the globe, accounting for millions of deaths each year. The situation isn't much better with plastic waste. A typical individual creates hundreds of kilos of plastic garbage each year owing to human activities. Garbage generation might reach millions of tons by the end of the 21st century, given the Earth's population. While many individuals care about the environment and take steps to improve it, just a small percentage of people really try to change the situation. As a consequence, this initiative was focusing on pollution caused by humans and the need for eco-aware citizens to speak up about environmental concerns. As a result, the majority of people are interested in the topic. Thus, the mission of our program was to raise ecological responsibility by educating participants and implementing their suggestions on how to improve the state of the environment locally. They were able to put those ideas into action in their communities by participating in the Eco-marathon that will be held during the project. The following goals were being targeted with this project: - To educate participants about the effects of human activities on the environment; - To provide useful approaches and resources to help participants' transform the status of the environment in their communities; - To develop a feeling of responsibility in participants by educating them about the zero-waste lifestyle and how to embrace and promote it in their communities; - To familiarize participants with the 5R rule (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle); - To teach easy and practical ways for reusing household materials and supplies. It all refers to developing new, positive, and environmentally sustainable habits; - To provide participants with particular tools for organizing an ecological marathon throughout the project, which they will launch in their communities as part of the dissemination - Investigate diverse ways to solve environmental risks in local communities in the context of cultural diversity. We gathered young leaders across the initiative to learn about the most significant difficulties they have encountered and to share their solutions for improving the environmental situation in their home countries.
