Background

- Need: Young people require safe ways to understand and process bullying. Addressed through drama, role-play, illustrations, poems, and artefacts, which allowed students to explore their own experiences, express emotions, and re-script harmful situations into constructive ones. These methods helped them see bullying as a social performance rather than a fixed identity, giving them agency to change roles and outcomes. · Need: Young people need to build empathy, resilience, and intervention skills. Addressed by role-switching exercises (playing bully, victim, bystander, ally), which fostered empathy and perspective-taking. The activities also emphasized impression management and resilience skills, empowering students to intervene constructively and become supportive witnesses (upstanders). · Need: Youth workers require practical tools to address bullying in schools and youth settings. Addressed by creating open-source resources such as the Questions on Bullying Situations Game and 10 (Anti)Bullying Scenarios. These tools gave educators structured, interactive methods to engage students in reflection and discussion around bullying, with a focus on empathy, solidarity, and respectful communication.
