Objectives

Natural disasters can cause great damage both materially and spiritually and endanger our security. However, instead of blaming natural disasters for possible negativities, we should not forget that lack of information poses a greater threat. It is of great importance to increase awareness on this issue in order to be effectively prepared for and intervene in natural disasters. Disaster preparedness and interveniton trainings are very useful in order to be informed about the precautions to be taken before a disaster and what to do after a disaster. In fact, it is not the natural disasters themselves, but the panic and lack of information experienced during these events that constitute the biggest problems. Disaster intervention and preparedness trainings increase our awareness of natural disasters and help us take the right steps before, during and after a disaster. Every minute that passes after a disaster is of critical importance. During this process, it can be difficult for aid teams to reach those in need. For example, after natural disasters such as earthquakes, it is very important to be able to help and protect people from greater dangers. However, unconscious interventions can harm the people who are being helped in an unintended way. Therefore, it is of great importance to be able to intervene in an educated and conscious manner. In this sense, individual awareness creates a significant impact on society in general. The more people are aware of natural disasters, the more effective awareness is created in society. Implementing our project for awareness and preparation for natural disasters has been of great importance in order to increase the safety of society and minimize the negative effects of disasters. In this context, our project aimed to create a more conscious and prepared society during disasters by providing information activities aimed at eliminating the lack of information about natural disasters. At the same time, it allowed our participants to learn effective and correct intervention methods. Our aim to increase social assistance and solidarity by making individuals more aware of disasters was emphasized. Our participants and target group were made aware of the precautions to be taken before, during and after the disaster. By drawing attention to the importance of correct and effective intervention methods during and after the disaster, it contributed to the development of emergency skills for individuals. During the project, regular monitoring and evaluation studies were conducted, the effectiveness of trainings and activities were measured and necessary arrangements were made. In line with these goals, by creating a society that is prepared and conscious about natural disasters, it was contributed to raising awareness that it is possible to reduce the damages of disasters and increase people's safety. In addition, the participants and target group in our project were provided with the opportunity to stay away from discrimination, racism and prejudices, to promote gender and equal opportunities, to develop culturally and to meet and integrate with different cultures. Support was provided to the young people with fewer opportunities in our project to discover their individual talents and increase their self-confidence. At the same time, it was contributed to the development of English language skills, to obtain information about the Erasmus Plus program and to the benefit of the advantages of this program to a wider audience.
