The big objective of this bi-lateral exchange was empowerment of girls/young women in the age from 15 till 21. Not only the empowerment but also well being of girls in this age group. Within this project we wanted to give the girls an opportunity to learn more about their mental health, physical health, sexual health and their own boundaries within these topics. This resulted in girls who know their worth, are socially involved and who learned to shape their own life in a healthy independent way. The aim of the project was to make girls feel empowered. An important subject in achieving this was to make the girls feel included in the society by giving them tools to enhance and develop their competences and (social) skills. By doing this they feel more confident in participating in the society and shine their light on important subjects. They also felt more confident in making steps to achieve their own personal goals. The participating girls had different (social) backgrounds and cultures, they had to get to know different opinions and experiences on the topics. This gave the girls the chance to learn more about different cultures and maybe chance the prejudices and attitudes they have on some of the different cultures, this to make the girls feel more united. Feeling united and empowered opened them up to learn from each other but also lean on each other when needed. This gave them the chance to redefine what womanhood really means to them and to bring this back to their own society and (girl) groups.
