With Human Rights Through Our Lens, our goal was to increase awareness of human rights violations and equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to take action against such violations in their communities and beyond. We recognized that young people are powerful agents of change, but they often lack access to quality human rights education in formal school systems. By bringing together participants from diverse cultural, social, and geographical backgrounds, we wanted to create an intercultural learning environment where young people could exchange ideas, reflect on their own realities, and develop new approaches to promote tolerance and respect for human dignity. The project objectives were: -To develop a comprehensive understanding among youth about the causes, consequences, and impacts of human rights violations, both globally and in their local contexts. -To create a platform for young people from different countries to exchange perspectives on human rights, learning from each other’s realities and strengthening solidarity across borders. -To design and implement innovative approaches to human rights education through non-formal learning, including the creative use of films, social media, and storytelling as tools for raising awareness. -To foster a sense of initiative among young participants, empowering them to design solutions and actions for global and local issues related to human rights. -To encourage young people to see themselves as active global citizens, aware of their rights and responsibilities, and capable of influencing change in their societies. The ultimate aim was not only to increase awareness but also to inspire long-term engagement by equipping participants with tools and motivation to act as multipliers in their communities, contributing to more inclusive and democratic societies.
