Objectives

All participating organizations took advantage of the opportunity to share experiences based on certain challenges that they are facing. We had the chance to address the long and deep history of certain Caribbean islands / nations and from Europe that has been connected to colonization, attempts of reparations and relationships that need further care to ensure the health of international relations. While thousands of Europeans move to the Caribbeans, thousands of people from the Caribbeans are moving to Europe. Therefore, there are many people living or born in one part of the world with deep roots in the other part of the North Atlantic Ocean. This training course provided an essential and valuable opportunity to explore the topic and provide more awareness by sharing best practices, knowledge and experiences. There are various objectives of this project. - some inside of the training course activity (I) and some outside of it (O) that were implemented (during the application writing, preparation phase and follow-up phase). These are the objectives that we reached, as initially planned: • Understand the concept of intercultural competence and its dimensions (I) (O) • Better understanding own and other cultures (including stereotypes and prejudices) (I) • Communicating meaningfully in intercultural environments (I) (O) • Cooperating successfully in intercultural teams (I) • Being aware of and accessing the needs of youth (groups from culturally diverse backgrounds) (I) • Designing educational programs with intercultural groups (I) • and facilitating learning processes of intercultural groups (I) • Sharing best practices and past experiences (I) (O) • Creating new networks and partnerships (I) (O) • Improving the capabilities of the participating organisations (I) (O) Consequently, we provided valuable learning experiences for the participating organisations, team members and participants regarding: Competences to work in intercultural environments, international cooperation, sharing experiences / best-practices, and working successfully in intercultural teams. Furhter details can be identified in the application (see section "Please also mention how the project fits the needs of the participating organisations." and in the following parts of this report. )
