Objectives

Our project aimed to empower a diverse group of young activists aged 22 to 30 to become effective advocates for women's human rights and gender equality. The primary objectives were: Empowering Young Activists: We provided intensive training and engagement to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to address gender-based violence effectively. Raising Awareness and Understanding: We deepened participants' understanding of the Istanbul Convention, women's human rights, and gender-based violence in Europe, ensuring they gained a comprehensive understanding of the legal frameworks and associated challenges. Building Advocacy Skills: We trained participants in practical advocacy skills, including campaign planning, communication, and networking, enabling them to design and execute impactful campaigns. Fostering Cross-Cultural Learning: Through cultural exchange and dialogue, we promoted empathy, cross-cultural understanding, and solidarity, allowing participants to address gender-based violence from a multicultural perspective. Facilitating Advocacy Campaigns: Participants organized country-specific advocacy campaigns addressing sexual harassment and gender-based violence, raising awareness, mobilizing communities, and advocating for policy changes. Driving EU-Level Advocacy: At the European level, participants collaborated to design and implement an advocacy campaign to influence policies and promote change. Ensuring Sustainability and Networking: We established a sustainable network of young advocates committed to continuing their efforts, ensuring the project's lasting impact and ongoing advocacy for women's rights. In summary, the project aimed to empower young activists, foster understanding and collaboration, and implement advocacy campaigns to combat gender-based violence. Through these efforts, we contributed to building a safer and more equal Europe for women, girls, and individuals with uteruses while creating a robust network of advocates dedicated to driving long-term change.
