The project “Leaders of the Young Generation” was initiated in response to the real needs expressed by a group of young people from Poland whoactively engaged in student councils, community initiatives, and cultural activities recognized the importance of developing their leadership abilities and soft skills, such as communication, assertiveness, teamwork, and media literacy. Inspired by previous projects carried out by our organization and following our activities on social media, the youth approached us with a request to support the preparation of an international youth exchange project. Their goal was to learn from peers from other countries, develop social and civic competences, and strengthen their roles as leaders within their local communities. At the same time, we established cooperation with the Romanian organization Asociatia CPDIS, which, like our organization, works with socially active, ambitious young people interested in leadership development. After online discussions, the leaders of both groups expressed a strong interest in participating in a joint mobility, which became the foundation for designing a project that reflected the real needs and aspirations of both sides. The main goal of the “Leaders of the Young Generation” project was to support young people in developing leadership competences, increasing their self-awareness, enhancing interpersonal and communication skills, and strengthening their confidence and belief in their own potential. The project also aimed to promote values such as democracy, equality, and social responsibility, with a particular focus on ensuring equal access to leadership roles regardless of gender. The project was designed not only to provide theoretical knowledge, but most importantly to offer hands-on experience through international teamwork, collaborative problem-solving, decision-making, and competence-building activities such as simulations, educational games, group work, and debates. It also encouraged breaking down language and cultural barriers and fostering integration through collaboration, openness, and mutual respect. The key objectives of the project included: - developing leadership competences, raising self-awareness, and strengthening participants’ soft skills; -improving skills related to leading a group, self-presentation, and effective team communication; - enhancing non-verbal communication and assertiveness; - building self-confidence and improving self-esteem among young people; - fostering creativity and media skills, including public speaking in front of a camera; - developing stress-management strategies; - overcoming language barriers and improving English communication skills; -gaining experience in international teamwork, building international relationships, and expanding development opportunities. For partner organizations, the project aimed to establish long-term cooperation based on mutual trust and shared values, to strengthen capacities for organizing international projects, and to exchange best practices in youth work. The implementation of the project also contributed to the institutional growth of the involved organizations.
