The objective of the Dance 4 Unity project was to create a safe and creative environment in which young people from Poland, Hungary, Serbia and Denmark could grow together, overcome prejudice, and learn tolerance and openness. The project intended to use dance as a tool for education, communication and building self-confidence — especially among young people with fewer opportunities who experience exclusion, stereotypes or discrimination. The project aimed to help participants better understand cultural diversity, stereotypes and different forms of discrimination, and then use this knowledge in practice by creating a joint choreography and implementing inclusion-based actions in their local communities. The project objectives included: • giving 36 young participants the opportunity to use dance as a tool for education, communication and self-expression; • increasing participants’ awareness of their personal and cultural identity; • improving skills necessary to recognize prejudice and discrimination; • strengthening communication skills, creativity, empathy and critical thinking; • supporting participants in developing actions aimed at fighting exclusion and discrimination. Through this project, young people experienced that diversity is an asset, and that intercultural cooperation and artistic creation can effectively promote tolerance, understanding and social cohesion.
