Objectives

The objective of our project was to address the critical issue of domestic abuse, which intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our primary aim was to raise awareness about domestic violence, its various forms, and its profound and lasting effects on victims. Specifically, our objectives were: -To raise awareness and prevent domestic abuse; -To promote gender equality and women’s empowerment; -To promote equal opportunities and equity; -To promote human rights; -To prevent any discrimination based on education, gender, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, language, culture, disability, age, or sexual orientation; -To enhance young people’s active citizenship; -To support individuals by strengthening their skills and capabilities; -To support sustainability. By hosting the youth exchange in a calm rural village, Ponte de Lima, we sought to create a safe and reflective environment to approach this sensitive topic. The project aimed to connect young people from different parts of Europe to share knowledge, cultures, and experiences related to domestic abuse. Digital art was chosen as the primary tool for this project because it facilitates expression, communication, and connection. Through artistic activities, we expected to inspire self-reflection, exchange ideas, and foster mutual understanding. The participants had the freedom to choose their ways to express themselves and ended up creating different materials to raise awareness against domestic abuse. Our project was connected to the Erasmus+ Programme and this specific key action because it is an effective instrument to raise awareness for domestic abuse, promote human rights, gender equality and women empowerment, as well as to enhance young people’s active citizenship.
