Objectives

This youth exchange was designed to address the challenges young people face in entering the job market and achieving their career goals. With the evolving job landscape and increasing competitiveness, it is essential for young individuals to acquire not only academic knowledge but also practical skills and intercultural competencies. This project aimed to provide participants with the tools and resources needed to navigate their career paths successfully, foster mutual understanding among different cultures, and inspire active community engagement. By implementing the youth exchange project "The Best Start of My Career," our aim was to bring together 35 young participants from five different countries: Portugal, Romania, Poland, Czechia, and Croatia. We sought to create a dynamic and supportive environment where these young people could develop essential career skills, engage in meaningful intercultural dialogue, and build a network of peers and mentors. Our primary goals were: 1. Enhancing career readiness: We wanted to equip participants with practical skills such as CV writing, job interview techniques, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial thinking. These skills are crucial for young people as they prepare to enter the job market and pursue their professional aspirations. 2. Fostering personal development: Through various workshops and activities, we aimed to boost participants' self-confidence, help them identify their strengths and interests, and guide them in setting and achieving their career goals. 3. Promoting intercultural understanding: By bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds, we aimed to facilitate rich intercultural dialogue and mutual respect. Participants would gain valuable insights into different cultures, enhancing their global awareness and empathy. 4. Encouraging active citizenship: We emphasised the importance of community involvement and active citizenship. Participants engaged in discussions about civic engagement, volunteering, and youth leadership, inspiring them to contribute positively to their communities. 5. Building networks and mentorship: Through interactions and activities, participants built strong networks and received mentorship from experienced professionals. This support would continue to benefit them as they pursue their career goals. The objectives were clearly defined to ensure that the project would have a lasting positive impact on the participants: 1. Support personal and professional development: To provide young people with the skills and knowledge necessary for employability, entrepreneurial learning, and the development of key competences. This included practical workshops on CV writing, job interview techniques, financial management, and entrepreneurship. 2. Define career goals: To help participants define their professional goals and aspirations, and develop the skills and knowledge they need to start their careers. Through personalized coaching and career planning sessions, participants were guided in creating actionable career plans. 3. Promote intercultural exchange: To foster intercultural understanding and mutual respect among young people from different countries and cultures. Cultural activities, visits to local landmarks, and intercultural evenings were organized to provide valuable insights into different cultures. 4. Raise awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities: To increase awareness of the Erasmus+ programme and the opportunities it offers for young people's development. Information sessions and discussions were held to inform participants about the various benefits and opportunities provided by Erasmus+. 5. Encourage collaboration and networking: To facilitate collaboration and networking between young people, youth leaders, and partner organisations from different EU countries. The project provided a platform for participants to build lasting connections and explore future collaborative opportunities. 6. Support victims of the war in Ukraine: To contribute to the Erasmus+ priority of supporting victims of the war in Ukraine by providing them with opportunities for personal and professional growth. The project included specific support measures and activities aimed at addressing the needs of these participants.
