Objectives

The idea for this project was derived from one of the major challenges that young people face nowadays which is the growing amount of mental health issues among them. More and more young adults experience mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse and other concerning issues which significantly impact a person’s quality of life and could likely lead to long-lasting consequences. By implementing this project, we aimed to promote dancing as a tool to overcome mental health issues among young people. To achieve this we implemented various non-formal learning methods as well as practical and real life examples. The objectives of the project were the following: 1. Promote inclusion and diversity of individuals that are struggling with mental health issues and breaking down the stereotypes associated with this. 2. Encourage young people to engage in dance and other physical activities to promote health and well-being. 3. Increase awareness about the benefits of dancing for mental health, and the ways in which it can be used to manage mental health problems among young people. 4. Offer young individuals an experience of cultural exchange and understanding. 5. Empower young people to become active citizens and embrace their European identity.
