I-VOTED aimed to promote democratic participation among young people through accessible, non-formal education tools. The project set out to raise awareness about how the EU functions, encourage involvement in EU programmes, and empower youth workers to support civic learning. It also sought to strengthen youth competences such as critical thinking and communication, while fostering active citizenship. By developing a European guide and running practical training activities, the project helped make civic education more engaging and effective for youth across the partner countries.
The I-VOTED project responded to the low levels of civic engagement and knowledge among young people about the EU and its democratic processes. Many youth feel disconnected from EU institutions and lack awareness of how to influence decisions or access opportunities. At the same time, youth workers often lack non-formal tools to explain EU citizenship in a practical and engaging way. The project aimed to bridge this gap by creating educational tools that support both youth and educators in exploring civic participation and promoting a sense of European belonging. The need was clear: to make EU citizenship tangible and accessible for young people, especially those with fewer opportunities.
