The “Fake OFF!” youth exchange aimed to tackle the challenges posed by misinformation, fake news and digital disinformation in today’s society. Specifically, the project sought to empower young people with critical thinking and media literacy skills, enabling them to better evaluate the information they encounter in digital spaces. Recognizing the widespread influence of fake news, the project was designed to address the need for heightened awareness and responsible digital engagement among European youth. The objectives of the project were: To increase participants’ critical thinking skills by 20%, as measured through pre- and post-project assessments. To equip 36 participants with practical tools and strategies to detect and combat disinformation in their daily lives. To promote responsible and ethical online participation, encouraging young people to become active digital citizens who challenge fake news and spread credible information. To foster collaboration among youth organizations across Europe, strengthening partnerships and establishing a network dedicated to media literacy and digital responsibility. Through these objectives, the project not only aimed to empower individual participants but also to create a ripple effect, inspiring broader communities to critically engage with online content and embrace media literacy as a key skill for the 21st century.
