“Life is Art” was created based on the needs some youngsters expressed in a project organised by Cloud Five in summer 2023, when, on the final evaluation form, being asked about what other needs they would want us to address, most of them answered that they would like to improve competences through practicing art. Therefore, together with the partner organisations for this project, who had the same needs in their communities, we thought about creating a context in which the youngsters from our communities could benefit from a safe and inclusive space in which to develop their creativity, soft and social skills through practicing five different art forms, wishing to promote through our project the benefits of practicing art on a daily basis. An important motivation aspect that led us to creating this project was closely linked to 2024 being the European Year of Skills, wanting to contribute to this initiative by bringing into light the importance of art and the opportunities that can be created through art. We also contributed to the Creative Europe initiative by helping 40 youngsters developing their creativity, soft and social skills. A lot of activities ideas were based on the participation of 2 members of Cloud Five to the Connector 8.0 event in Bucharest, Romania, in which their workshops were based on artistic activities. After acknowledging (after the research done by the youngsters involved in the planning phase in their communities) that young people have interest in developing soft and social skills through art, we organized a survey on Cloud Five’s Instagram account to double check if youngsters need a project with such a topic and to decide on what form of art we should tackle. With an average of 100 responses (coming from people from different countries around Europe - as our followers base includes youngsters from all partner countries with which we collaborated for projects since the beginning), 71% of respondents who confirmed would be interested in developing soft and social skills through art were between 18 and 25 years old. Their desired learning outcomes included enhanced creativity and imagination (42%), increased confidence and self-esteem (24%), better cultural awareness and intercultural understanding (18%), and improved communication and teamwork (16%). When asked about their preferred art form, 30% chose theater, 30% dancing, 27% painting, 7% singing and 6% storytelling. As the options were somehow balanced and all of them were chosen, we agreed on including all of them in our project. The goal of our project was to increase the level of soft and social skills through different art forms among 40 young people aged 18-25, from the communities of the partner organizations from RO, HU, SK, PT and LT by the end of the project. The objectives of the project were: O1: Help 40 youngsters aged 18-25 from the communities of the partner organizations from RO, HU, PT, SK and LT learn about different art forms they can practice further to enhance their creativity and imagination, boost confidence, gain abilities to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions for challenges until the end of the project. O2: Create a context where 18-25 year old youngsters can get the opportunity to practice theater, storytelling, painting, dancing and singing in a safe environment, in order to discover new potential hobbies and develop their social and soft skills by the end of the project. O3: Develop the competences of participating organizations in implementing art related activities for youngsters from their communities until the end of the project. The goal and objectives were successfully reached, in some cases the results being beyond our initial expectations, as we will exemplify in this final report.
