Objectives

During the 16-month duration of the initiative, at least 150 young individuals enhanced their knowledge of government frameworks and the workings of public administration at various levels, from local municipalities to European institutions. Consequently, they became better equipped to participate meaningfully in democratic processes. Throughout the project period, these young people developed platforms designed to boost their political awareness, foster critical thinking skills, and facilitate dialogue with decision-makers. By the conclusion of the initiative, the youth felt motivated to engage in collaboration with local officials and community leaders, taking active roles in their communities by organizing events, campaigns, and initiatives that encouraged civic participation. Over the course of the project, participants gained the ability to incorporate the core principles of the European Youth Strategy into local policies and programs that directly responded to the needs and goals of young people within their communities. What we aimed to achieve through this project and its key objectives: Our primary goal was to empower young people by deepening their comprehension of political and administrative structures both locally and across Europe, enabling them to become informed and active participants in democratic life. We sought to strengthen their political literacy and critical thinking abilities, facilitating meaningful communication channels between youth and decision-makers. Another essential objective was to cultivate a sense of ownership and responsibility among young individuals toward their communities by encouraging cooperation with local authorities and community stakeholders. We wanted to inspire them to take initiative in organizing diverse civic activities that would promote engagement and social responsibility. Furthermore, we endeavored to equip the youth with the tools and knowledge necessary to embed the values and guidelines of the European Youth Strategy into concrete local actions and policymaking processes. This would help ensure that youth interests were adequately reflected and addressed in community development efforts. Ultimately, by implementing this project, we aspired to create a sustainable framework for youth participation in democratic governance and community life, nurturing a generation of informed, proactive, and socially responsible citizens.
