The project “Civic Implication, European Future!” was developed in response to the growing need to increase civic awareness, democratic participation, and community involvement among young people, particularly those from rural or underrepresented backgrounds. In the context of declining youth participation in democratic processes across Europe, the project aimed to equip young people with the knowledge, motivation, and tools to actively engage in shaping their communities and contributing to a democratic society. The initiative was also aligned with the European Union’s strategic goals related to active citizenship, inclusive participation, and youth empowerment, particularly as outlined in the European Youth Goals (Goal 1: Connecting EU with Youth, and Goal 9: Space and Participation for All). The specific objectives of the project were: 1.To increase awareness among young people (aged 13–30) about the importance of democratic participation, voting, and civic engagement, by using non-formal education methods tailored to their realities and interests. 2. To empower a core group of 20 young people (Democracy Ambassadors) from urban and rural areas through a residential training mobility in Râșnov, Romania, where they would develop competences in public speaking, leadership, critical thinking, electoral processes, and civic responsibility. 3. To facilitate the transfer of these competences to a wider audience of youth through youth-led public actions, including the Democracy Panels Marathon, Democracy Run, and the “You Are 18, Vote!” awareness campaign, reaching over 300 young people from Mangalia and neighboring communities. 4. To promote inclusive youth participation in public life by engaging vulnerable and rural youth, and ensuring gender balance and equal access to learning and leadership opportunities throughout the project. 5. To strengthen intergenerational and interinstitutional dialogue by creating spaces (such as Cafeneaua Democrației) where youth could interact directly with teachers, public officials, and local stakeholders, contributing to the co-creation of a more youth-friendly civic culture. 6. To increase the organisational capacity of Fundația Magdalena Deijs by developing internal youth-led project management systems, fostering strategic partnerships, and aligning with Erasmus+ standards and values. 7. To stimulate long-term engagement in democratic life and civic activism, both at the local and European levels, through reflective learning (Youthpass), digital tools, and follow-up initiatives linked to Erasmus+ opportunities. The project was guided by the belief that young people are not only beneficiaries but also drivers of democratic change, and that with the right support and space, they can contribute meaningfully to building inclusive, participatory communities. Through a mix of training, public engagement, and creative civic expression, “Civic Implication, European Future!” aimed to strengthen youth voices, foster civic competences, and build bridges between young citizens and the democratic institutions that serve them.
