Objectives

This project was based upon job shadowing and the professional development of our teachers. The aims were based upon the following objectives that Erasmus+ has in the field of youth action: 1. Strengthen personal and professional development of young people through non formal and informal learning mobility activities. 2. Foster the empowerment of young people, their active citizenship and participation in democratic life. 3. Foster quality development of youth work at local, regional, national, European and international level by building capacity of organisations active in the youth field and supporting the professional development of youth workers. 4. Promote inclusion and diversity, intercultural dialogue and the values of solidarity, equal opportunities and human rights among young people in Europe. The needs and objectives of this project included data collection and sharing, comparison, renewal, rediscovery and an educational, didactic, methodical reflection between both partners. Discussions, direct on site demonstrations and experiences between colleagues from Uppsala kulturskola and colleagues from the partner school in Vigo (Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Vigo), allowed for this to occur, be documented and evaluated. We also aimed to create a continuing relationship between our organisations to enable follow-ups and to create space for a continued sharing and development of ideas and techniques to support the young people we work with in the EU, in accordance with the Erasmus+ objectives. Our idea was to study, discuss and document the following topics of interest to our organisations, so as to help develop the work of both partners with young people, and to plan future Erasmus+ collaborations together: 1. Investigate and discuss how different orchestra and ensemble levels are operated and the techniques used therein with young people; from beginner, intermediate to advanced. 2. Investigate and discuss ensemble and chamber music and the related teaching systems. 3. Investigate and discuss the use of culture specific repertoire, teaching materials and literature. Investigate how local culture affects this, and how it is incorporated into the practices of the institution and its work with young people. 4. Investigate and discuss organisational and preparational techniques and practices regarding string, clarinet and orchestra teaching with young people. 5. Investigate and discuss organisational and preparational techniques and practices regarding guitar and ensemble teaching with young people. 6. Investigate and discuss the use of digital tools with young people and in teaching practices. For example: note programmes, communication between students and staff, lessons, new technology subjects and materials. 7. Investigate and discuss organisational practices and praxis regarding the musical accompaniment of young people (for example: piano accompanists), for different instruments. 8. Investigate and discuss organisational practices and praxis regarding teaching materials, notation and literature, library usage and functions. 9. Investigate and discuss strategies as to how the following needs of youth, with all kinds of backgrounds and/or fewer opportunities, are adressed (inclusion and diversity): - Disabilities, functional differences and neural developent disorders - Working with children who have learning difficulties - Health difficulties - Education opportunities - Cultural and language differences - Social barriers - Gender and gender identity - Economic barriers - Barriers linked to discrimination - Geographical barriers 10. Investigate and discuss how young people have their interests and own wishes incorporated into their studies. Investigating and discussing how the democratic voice of young people is heard and taken into consideration within the organisation. 11. Investigate and discuss how environmental friendly practices are adressed, implemented and made aware of for the youth we work with. 12. Discover and discuss points of interests in the local culture, history, arts and associated activities of relevance to working with young people. 13. Investigate why our organisations exist: what is the historical background and political environment like in relation to the organisation. 14. Investigate and discuss the context of the organisations within their culture, and the role that the teachers have within local society.
