The project was designed to support young people in understanding that they are an integral part of nature and society and to empower them to take an active role in the world around them. Research shows that during their teenage years, young people often disengage from nature and focus more on socializing with peers, sharing and shaping core values within their social circles. At the same time, they are particularly susceptible to advertising and social media messages, which can promote passivity and unrealistic self-image comparisons. These external influences often create unnecessary competition and self-doubt. To counteract these pressures, we aimed to provide a space where young people could live together in a small community, spend time in nature, and express their thoughts on their place in society and the environment through artistic methods. With this in mind, we set ourselves four main objectives: 1. To empower young people by encouraging self-expression and self-confidence through dance, theatre, poetry, and painting, helping them strengthen communication skills, creativity, and emotional intelligence. 2. To address well-being and self-image issues by fostering positive self-perception through artistic exploration and open dialogues, promoting mental health, and helping participants overcome societal pressures and unrealistic standards. 3. To foster a sense of community and environmental awareness through outdoor activities, intergenerational networking, and local community involvement. 4. To nurture social responsibility and active citizenship by empowering young people to take initiative, contribute to their communities, and advocate for positive change. The project was co-created with young people, based on their ideas and needs, to offer practical tools for self-expression, well-being, and body positivity while deepening their sense of belonging and environmental responsibility. Through artistic engagement and meaningful interaction with the natural and social environment, young people actively participated in shaping and delivering a programme that equipped them with the confidence and skills needed to become engaged, proactive citizens in today’s fast-changing world.
