The overall aim of our project was to reach out to, invite, and involve people in processes of (self-)help in the community based on the values of learning and practicing mutual respect, solidarity, and safe and respectful coexistence according to the principles of democracy. We wanted to bring European values closer to people and together make a shift from the abstract idea of these values to concrete and accessible actions that will be accessible and meaningful to people (based on the principle of what I can do and what impact my participation has). The aim was (consequently) to prevent negative trends (an increase in suicide and mental health problems, the increasing inaccessibility of sources of support and assistance in public health, public education, and community spaces, increasing intolerance and danger on the streets (violence against LGBT+ individuals and families), which is (also) a consequence of political apathy, civic inaction, and (self-)isolation). The objectives of the project were: 1. to reach, encourage, and involve individuals and groups of people in active citizenship (at least 25 people in our project) with fewer opportunities (immigrants and people living in marginal areas, where access to and inclusion in the above-mentioned aspects is still much weaker; people with mental health problems and neurodiversity; non-normative people in terms of gender and sexual orientation). 2. to work together and learn how to implement the above-mentioned European values (engaging people with fewer opportunities through five online workshops in one year, aimed at developing skills for applying European values in everyday life). 3. that people with fewer opportunities do not remain in isolated groups, but that we include them in public spaces, discussions, and processes of dialogue and implementation of European values and principles that will lead to democratic change in politics and at the community level (greater accessibility and awareness of sources of assistance, greater tolerance and solidarity in the form of mutual support, less violence as a direct consequence and at the same time with clear and public condemnation of violence on the streets, but also behind closed doors) - through networking at workshops and through 5 street actions in one year. 4. to empower people with fewer opportunities to become active and involved in the processes of solving problems that affect them (by the end of the project, users and participants in the activities become volunteers; more young people with fewer opportunities are actively involved in political processes at the public and private levels, and the representation of people with fewer opportunities in various decision-making contexts increases).
