Since 2020, LIJAmedia has been running a film and multimedia point, which takes place in different locations in Posavje and brings together different young people, where young people meet and learn about digital creation. Until the launch of the Digital Stories with a Purpose project, the Film and Multimedia Point was more periodic, without specific objectives, with the purpose of creation. Within the Film and Multimedia Point, a number of individuals were active during the application phase of the project: young people with a migrant background, young musicians, young people from rural areas, and a person with a cochlear implant. During the planning phase of the project, young people expressed their wish to meet and create digital content in a more systematic way, with a purpose. The young people had no previous experience of managing and organising projects and activities of this kind. This was the first opportunity for them to take on the roles of leaders and organisers, in addition to content creation, It was also important for them to be able to show more of themselves in the local environment, to exist, to create and to be recognised as part of the community. The young people then met regularly throughout the year to produce a variety of multimedia content: music, video, records and photography. The content produced by the young people in the project was created with the aim of reaching a wider audience. They touch on ecology, mental health and multiculturalism. The project has produced an animated film, Museum, which deals with ecological themes, a music video, Sides, on the theme of balance and mental health, and a digital photo exhibition, My Second Home, which deals with the experience of interculturality. A joint live event was also organised at the end of the project. It included a panel discussion on youth and culture, a digital skills workshop and a music and art evening. The project work and the cooperation between young people of different ages and backgrounds contributed to strengthening the different competences of the young people involved, to mutual understanding, getting to know each other, strengthening social networks and creating new contacts and opportunities for the future. The project also influenced various other young people who were involved in the digital storytelling and the final event. The project has had an impact on the development of youth work in our organisation, which has improved its knowledge and capacity and gained experience to engage young people in an even more targeted way.It has also had an impact on the involvement of young people in the cultural field in the region, as through the project young people have also been put in contact with some decision makers who have listened to them. The digital stories were presented to a wide audience and remain available online for future reference.
