Project Title: Arts for Wellness and Inclusion Overview: Participants will delve into art therapies, drama, music, and dance, emphasizing self-expression, emotional healing, and group collaboration. The project aims to harness the therapeutic potential of arts to address emotional challenges, thereby fostering inclusivity and understanding among diverse groups. Relevance to Young People: In a world increasingly marked by rapid change and various socio-economic challenges, many young individuals face the brunt of emotional and psychological distress. This project is especially exciting for young people as it provides them with a platform to express their emotions, create mutual understanding, and find emotional healing through arts. Focus on Disadvantaged Youths: The arts possess an innate transformative power, especially potent for assisting youth from marginalized backgrounds. This is particularly true for those within the Roma community, individuals from economically challenged households, or survivors of geopolitical conflicts like the war in Ukraine and Karabagh war in the Caucasus. At the core of this project is a profound commitment to inclusion and equity, acknowledging that these young souls carry distinct stories that merit recognition and amplification. Main Goal of the Project: Harness the therapeutic potential of arts to address emotional challenges, fostering inclusivity and mutual understanding among diverse groups of young people. Project Phases: Stage 1 - Youth Exchange in Yerevan, Armenia (3-12 June 2024): 35 young people from Slovakia, Slovenia, Armenia, and Georgia will unite in Yerevan with the following objectives: - To understand the diverse cultural backgrounds and challenges faced by peers. - To learn and practice various art forms, focusing on their therapeutic aspects. - To foster teamwork and collaboration among participants. - To share personal stories and experiences, creating a shared space of trust. - To develop skills for organizing local community activities. - To evaluate and reflect on the learnings and plan for the intermediary stage. Intermediary Stage "ArtSoul Gatherings": Participants will organize "ArtSoul Gatherings" in their communities. This name combines "Art" and "Soul", highlighting the therapeutic and emotional essence of these events, while "Gatherings" emphasizes community and collaboration. "ArtSoul Gatherings" are community-driven events that celebrate the therapeutic and transformative power of arts. Through activities like collaborative mural painting, group dance sessions, and storytelling workshops, participants can explore self-expression, emotional healing, and connect deeply with one another. Each country's team is responsible for organizing at least 2 "ArtSoul Gatherings", culminating in 8 events altogether. This stage facilitates the real-time application of the skills and knowledge gained in Stage 1, encouraging participants to take initiatives and contribute to their local communities. Stage 2 - Youth Exchange in Bratislava, Slovakia (11-16 November 2024): The 35 participants reconvene in Slovakia, focusing on: - Reflecting on the outcomes and experiences of the "ArtSoul Gatherings". - Advancing their skills in art therapies with hands-on sessions led by experts. - Deepening the bonds of friendship and collaboration initiated in Yerevan. - Sharing their personal growth stories since the first exchange. - Designing the booklet "Artful Expressions: A Youth's Guide to Wellness and Inclusivity" to disseminate the knowledge acquired during the project. - Evaluating the overall project and planning for future collaborative ventures. Rationale for the Three-Stage Approach: The three stages are meticulously designed to ensure a holistic learning experience. - The first stage is about immersion and understanding – participants come together, delve into the world of arts, and form bonds. - The intermediary stage emphasizes application – participants apply their learnings in real-world scenarios within their communities. - The final stage is about reflection and expansion – participants reconvene, reflect on their journey, and work on amplifying the impact of their experiences. Non-formal learning methods will be employed to foster an interactive, learner-centered environment. These methods will include experiential workshops in art therapies, drama, music, and dance, group discussions to share personal narratives and experiences, and collaborative projects such as the design of the booklet "Artful Expressions: A Youth's Guide to Wellness and Inclusivity" and organization of "ArtSoul Gatherings". Through role-plays, peer-to-peer teaching, outdoor activities, and reflection sessions, participants will be encouraged to actively engage, express themselves, and learn from both the facilitators and their peers, ensuring a holistic and hands-on learning experience.
