Objectives

Within this project, we realized a double youth exchange based on the theme of the environment and environmental sustainability. We aimed to endow the participating young people with knowledge and skills to help them take greater responsibility in their communities for the environment and ecological sustainability. We wanted to encourage a change in attitude that would help young people become role models in their local communities and peers. Through the exchange, we endowed the participants with the knowledge to help them take action to protect their environment, live their daily lives with environmental sustainability in mind, and pass this knowledge on to the next generation. The project aimed to help the young people participating in the exchanges positively impact their environment and community and to trigger a change in attitudes that would contribute to a liveable, clean, and healthy environment. We wanted to contribute to the development of youth work by encouraging young people's social activism. The project's objectives were to encourage young people to engage in their communities and take an active role in societal issues, fostering a sense of responsibility and civic duty. It aimed to provide participants with opportunities to develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, which are crucial for personal and professional growth.Additionally, the project facilitated cultural exchange among participants from different countries to promote tolerance, acceptance, and appreciation of diverse backgrounds and perspectives. It sought to raise awareness about environmental issues and sustainability, empowering participants to take action in their communities to protect the environment. The initiative targeted disadvantaged groups, particularly young women, to ensure participation and combat discrimination, promoting gender equality. The project also aimed to establish role models within the communities who could inspire their peers and lead initiatives focused on social and environmental responsibility. Follow-up activities and programs were implemented to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the exchanges in participants' home communities, fostering ongoing engagement and development. Furthermore, participants were encouraged to form a long-term community that shares experiences, knowledge, and resources, creating a supportive network for future initiatives and collaborations. These objectives aimed to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the participants and their communities, promoting positive change and development. Increase in Participants’ Knowledge and Promotion of Community Activity: We measured the increase in knowledge during the project using pre- and post-project questionnaires. These questionnaires allowed us to track the growth in environmental expertise among participants. The results indicated an increase in understanding of the topic. Events like the SMART MESSAGES for SUSTAINABILITY exhibition played a key role in applying this knowledge. During the event, each group presented their creations, which improved their presentation skills. The event aimed to raise awareness of socially vulnerable groups and enhance tolerance within the community. Feedback showed that the young people actively applied the new knowledge and initiated their community projects, contributing to the sustainability of their communities. Attitude Change in Youth and Its Consequences: The project significantly changed the attitudes of the young participants. Their commitment to environmental protection grew, and they actively participated in organizing and running green events. Not only did their focus shift toward ecological issues, but they also began to engage more in social responsibility, recognizing their roles in addressing community challenges. Participation in green events motivated other young people, leading many to start their projects centered around sustainability. Launching New Projects and Applying Experiences in Other Communities: The experiences gained during the project were successfully applied in other communities. Participants organized green events and launched new youth projects in different cities, focusing on promoting sustainability. The knowledge and experience gained through the program empowered local communities to create new opportunities for sustainable development. The project's outcomes also helped inspire new initiatives, leading to further community engagement and growth. Training Materials and Case Studies Distributed: Throughout the project, we created educational materials, case studies, and practical guides, which were shared through online platforms. These materials became available to other communities, helping them support sustainability and community activities in their areas. The online distribution allowed the knowledge to reach a wider audience and enabled other groups to apply successful practice.
