The project was focused on young people from SK, the CZ, and RO, with the main goal of increasing their awareness of environmental protection and nature conservation through various activities. Participants engaged in exploring, protecting, learning about, and beautifying nature, while simultaneously developing their competencies, self-confidence, and skills. Additionally, the project aimed to help them understand the importance of living in harmony with nature and to gain insights into the traditional ways of life of our ancestors, who respected nature and prioritized environmental protection. The project enabled a comparison of experiences among young people from the three countries, who already had some experience with active leisure, nature conservation, and learning about the flora and fauna of their regions. The focus also included comparing the orographic features of SR, CZ, and RO, as well as exploring protected areas, national parks, and proper methods of nature conservation. Participants came from diverse backgrounds, including standard families, dysfunctional families, and institutions replacing family care, often facing challenging life circumstances. Many lacked positive role models within their families. During the project, we fostered their interest in intergenerational learning, as they engaged with older and more experienced individuals. These individuals, active in volunteer organizations, shared their professional and personal experiences in environmental protection with the youth. The youth exchange created a platform for communication and collaboration between generations. Older participants served as positive role models, helping young people apply themselves in activities beneficial to society, the community, and nature. The main goal of the project was to enhance young people's understanding of environmental protection, help them discover the beauty of nature, and utilize the potential of ecotourism. Non-formal education focused on topics such as the orographic features of the participating countries, the significance of protected areas, the exploration of flora and fauna, and the correct practices for environmental protection. Another key aspect was teaching participants to better advocate for their interests, understand community needs, and discover their own skills. We emphasized that they could be valuable to society and motivated them toward self-realization and fulfilling their dreams through activities aimed at nature conservation. Participants actively participated in program preparation, which helped them develop organizational skills and independence. Group leaders provided expert guidance and support, assisted in organizing activities, and ensured the necessary materials were available. Through practical tasks and group coaching, we created opportunities for young people to showcase their skills and connect them with future professional goals. The project highlighted positive examples of young people who succeeded in volunteering, discovered themselves, and were motivated toward an active and responsible approach to life. These examples demonstrated that even young people from challenging backgrounds could achieve success and contribute to society. The project also significantly supported the process of self-discovery among young people, which was a crucial aspect of their personal growth. Participants had the opportunity to reflect on their abilities, knowledge, and qualities, helping them better understand their potential and identify areas for further development. Through various activities, they acquired practical skills such as teamwork, time management, creative thinking, and problem-solving. These abilities are invaluable not only in personal life but also in professional contexts, where they can help young people gain confidence and preparedness for various challenges. Active participation in activities focused on environmental protection and nature conservation made young people aware of their responsibility toward the community and society as a whole. They acquired new skills that could be applied in practical activities beneficial to the environment, such as organizing volunteer events, planning projects, or implementing ecological solutions. This experience also motivated them to seek additional ways to contribute to nature conservation and sustainable development. The overall outcome of the project was a strengthened connection between young people and nature, reflected in their increased sensitivity to environmental issues and willingness to actively participate in initiatives aimed at improving the environment. The project contributed to their self-confidence, giving them a sense that their efforts were meaningful and had a tangible impact on the world around them. Additionally, their motivation to engage actively in social life increased, enabling them to use their abilities to support their communities and foster an inclusive environment.
