SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) has recently become one of the most discussed issues. The high prices of experimental drugs and treatments developed in recent years against the disease are beyond the means of an average-income family and also pose a threat of imposing an economic burden on national healthcare systems. While SMA has been on the public agenda for quite some time, it has recently come up much more frequently. The high costs of the drugs and the uncertainty of treatments have sparked debates among the public. At precisely this point, we implemented our project and achieved the following: Through our project, we corrected or attempted to correct the widely believed misconceptions about SMA. We created awareness and increased consciousness regarding SMA. With this heightened awareness, we encouraged more individuals to conduct their own research on the disease. We explained that SMA is not destiny. We ensured that it was understood that the likelihood of the disease occurring can be further reduced through preventive measures taken before marriage. We ensured that the expectations of individuals with SMA from decision-makers were understood. We ensured that what needs to be done to ease the lives of individuals with SMA and their families was clearly understood. We supported the improvement of our project participants’ knowledge regarding SMA. We contributed to the development of participants’ key competences. During the project, participants became learner-teachers; after the project, they adopted an instructor identity. The activities of institutions and organizations that partnered in the project became visible to a wider audience. An increase was recorded in the number of volunteers within our partner organizations. The local community realized the need for more efforts in the fields of health, youth, and social development and began to support such activities. Thanks to the project, the misconception that the Erasmus+ program is only for university students in our region was corrected. As a result, more people from the region participated in the program. Young people who had been unaware of the opportunities offered by the program had the chance to get to know it and benefit from it. An effective project period was carried out with our partners, and this collaboration laid the foundation for future partnerships. Through the dissemination activities conducted after the project, more lives were positively affected. In this process, project participants played an active role in facilitating that impact. The gains and outcomes achieved during the project were not limited to those listed above; much more was accomplished. After the project was approved, work began with high motivation in collaboration with all stakeholders, and an effective implementation process was carried out in line with the objectives.
