Objectives

The main aim of the project “Champions of Carbon Neutrality” was to raise awareness among young people about climate change and to empower them to take action towards reducing their carbon footprint. By implementing this project, we aimed to engage young participants in learning about carbon emissions, carbon markets, and sustainable living through interactive and non-formal education methods. The objectives of the project were: To educate participants on the concept of carbon footprints, their sources, and the importance of minimizing them in daily life through simple actions and tools such as online calculators and recycling practices. To promote environmental responsibility and inspire young people to become active agents of change in their communities by adopting more sustainable lifestyles. To foster creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork through hands-on activities such as the Green City Design Challenge, Creative Waste Recycling Challenge, and the Carbon Market Trading Simulation Game. To support the development of soft skills like leadership, problem-solving, and intercultural communication among the participants. To increase awareness of European green policies and the European Green Deal by encouraging youth participation in discussions and role-play activities on environmental issues. To create lasting educational resources, such as a multilingual Carbon Neutrality Brochure, that could be used to further spread the knowledge gained during the project. Also, it is aimed to contribute to the development of a more environmentally conscious and proactive generation that values sustainability, European values, and active citizenship.
