Objectives

By implementing this project, we aimed to increase environmental awareness among young people, strengthen awareness of environmental problems and encourage sustainable living habits. Our project provided participants with both theoretical and practical information about the environment, thus helping them become more environmentally conscious individuals. In particular, eliminating the lack of information on environmental issues, raising awareness among young people in this area and encouraging them to produce active solutions were among the primary goals of our project. Throughout the project, our participants gained knowledge on issues such as sustainable use of natural resources, waste reduction, energy efficiency, recycling and nature protection, and gained the ability to reflect this knowledge in their daily lives. Another goal of the project was to encourage young people to understand environmental problems more deeply and develop innovative solutions to cope with these problems. Workshops and field visits organized within the scope of the project allowed participants to observe environmental problems on site and develop solution proposals. In particular, visits to the municipality's transformation facilities and natural habitats provided concrete examples on environmental issues, making the learning process more effective. In this way, young people understood the seriousness of environmental sustainability with both theoretical and practical experiences. One of the long-term goals of the project was to encourage participants to transfer the knowledge and skills they acquired during the project to their local communities. Young people participating in the project had the opportunity to develop and manage their own environmental projects. In this way, participants developed their skills to produce solutions to environmental problems not only theoretically but also practically. Participants continued to be provided with guidance and support to spread environmental awareness in their own environments after the project. In particular, the sustainability of environmental initiatives initiated by young people on their own was supported with post-project follow-up. One of the important goals of our project was to encourage intercultural interaction and cooperation between young people from different countries. The coming together of young people with different cultural backgrounds allowed them to approach environmental issues from different perspectives. This cultural interaction contributed to the participants developing more inclusive and innovative solutions on both environmental and social issues. Participants had the opportunity to discuss and compare environmental policies and projects implemented in different countries and to transfer their learning. We can also state that our project focused on the development of innovative and effective materials for environmental education. In this context, participants developed various educational materials, awareness materials and tools to make environmental issues more understandable and interesting. Examples include environmental games, infographics, informative brochures and social media posts. These materials were shared with local schools, youth centers and NGOs during the dissemination process of the project and contributed to the project’s impact reaching a wider audience. Strengthening the participants’ sense of social responsibility was also one of our priorities. Environmental problems have become too extensive to be solved solely through individual efforts. Therefore, our project encouraged individuals to act as active citizens in terms of environmental sustainability. During the project, participants developed awareness of environmental problems both individually and as a group and shared their competencies by communicating with the public.
