Objectives

The main goal of this project was to empower young people to become more aware, active, and responsible individuals in the face of social issues. Through the “Global Youth Ambassadors” project, we aimed to support young people not only in identifying problems but also in developing solutions, creating policies, and having the competence to advocate for those policies. Our primary objective was to strengthen young people’s active citizenship skills and encourage them to take more responsibility, especially in matters concerning vulnerable target groups. In this regard, we particularly focused on raising awareness about the challenges faced by groups such as migrants, women, children, and individuals at risk of poverty. At the same time, we wanted young people to adopt the identity of a “youth ambassador”—not merely as a symbolic title, but as a genuine social responsibility. Accordingly, the project was designed to help participants compare different country systems, think with a human rights-based approach, develop intercultural communication skills, and formulate concrete policy proposals. Another key goal was to ensure that young people gained an understanding of democratic participation mechanisms and were motivated to take an active role in such processes. Throughout the project, participants explored how they could raise their voices both locally and at a European level. In this sense, the project became more than just a youth exchange—it became a real experience of civic engagement. In short, our aim was to help young people become more conscious, participatory, and empathetic individuals, while also equipping them with the tools to generate meaningful ideas and contributions to society. Each of these objectives served as the foundation for the project’s design and implementation phases. As stated in our project proposal, here is a summary of the goals we committed to and successfully achieved: To increase opportunities for young people to engage in humanitarian aid projects and promote a culture of volunteering. To encourage interaction among young people from different cultures and countries, and strengthen international solidarity. To raise awareness among youth about global crises, the importance of humanitarian aid, and international relations through education. To enhance young people’s leadership and decision-making skills by providing training and mentorship opportunities. To analyze youth policies in Turkey and Italy in detail and offer suggestions for improvement. To exchange best practices and experiences between the two countries to support the development of youth policies. To promote greater involvement of young people in policy-making processes and amplify their voices. To organize cultural exchange programs and dialogue activities among young people. To support youth organizations with capacity-building tools to ensure the sustainability of the project. To regularly monitor the project’s progress, evaluate its achievements, and take corrective measures when needed.
