Objectives

BACKGROUND The last ESC volunteer at Jugendzentrum Perg was from Tangier, Morocco. This connection sparked an interest in strengthening collaborations between European and Moroccan youth. Karin, having participated in a EUROMED study visit to Morocco in 2012, felt a personal responsibility to use this experience for meaningful projects. The first step was inviting a Moroccan ESC volunteer, which led to discussions about the feasibility of organizing a youth exchange in Morocco. However, finding an accredited organization that understood international youth exchanges proved challenging. A breakthrough came during the digital youth work training in Sankt Pölten, Lower Austria, organized by OEAD. There, we connected with trainers and a Moroccan participant who had prior experience with youth exchanges and shared insights on making the project work. Over a week of intensive discussions, we explored potential partners, logistical challenges, and implementation strategies. Despite the complexities, the dedication of trainers and participants from different countries motivated us to take on this challenge. As a result, we committed to organizing this youth exchange in Tangier and Marrakesh, creating an opportunity for young people to engage in intercultural learning, democratic participation, and innovation-driven discussions. OBJECTIVES The ERASMUS+ Youth Exchange Program, titled “MISSION &: Explore, Engage, Empower”, aims to foster international cooperation among young people by addressing key global challenges. Through this project, we focus on sustainability, participation, and values, while covering crucial themes such as youth work innovation, European identity, democracy, digitalization, and climate change. Key Objectives: 1. Enhancing the Quality and Innovation of Youth Work - Encourage bravery and adaptability in international youth work by engaging with local methods and challenges. - Exchange best practices and learn how to “fix things” in different cultural contexts. 2. Exploring European Identity and Intercultural Values - Strengthen intercultural dialogue between European and Arabian youth. - Reflect on shared values and how cultural heritage fosters a sense of belonging. 3. Promoting Citizenship and European Values - Empower young people to become active citizens in their communities. - Discuss how European values like solidarity, human rights, and democracy can be applied globally. 4. Encouraging Democracy and Inclusive Participation - Explore ways to increase youth involvement in decision-making. - Develop strategies for inclusive democratic participation across different social and cultural settings. 5. Leveraging Digitalization for Youth Engagement - Examine how digital tools can enhance youth participation in international projects. - Discuss the impact of AI, social media, and online platforms on youth work. 6. Addressing Climate Change through Cultural and Ethical Perspectives - Connect sustainability to cultural heritage and responsible tourism. - Learn from Morocco’s environmentally conscious architecture, such as the Hassan II Mosque’s sustainable design. By engaging in visits, discussions, and interactive workshops, this project empowers youth to explore new perspectives, engage in meaningful conversations, and take action on critical issues affecting their future.
