The purpose of the project was to empower youth workers to become local agents of peace in the face of ongoing conflicts in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus. It aimed to build a bridge between experienced and non experienced youth workers from both conflict-affected regions and developed countries. In this first stage in Tauchen, Austria, participants gathered for 7-days training course to develop their skills and experience on peace education and intercultural relations. On the last day of the project, participants formulated their follow-up local action ideas with the support and feedback of trainers and other participants. They successfully implemented their local actions in their home countries. Such local actions were the key outcome of the project to contribute to strengthening civil commitment to peace in the communities. After the local action phase, the evaluation event (2nd mobility) took place in Bakuriani, Georgia which provided a platform for youth workers to showcase their local initiatives, acquire new skills and methods, share successes and challenges, and critically reflect on their experiences. Objectives: To empower youth workers to promote non-violence, intercultural understanding and civic engagement in their peer groups and communities To equip participants with tools and methodologies in the field To encourage youth participation and civil commitment in peace-building and conflict management To raise awareness on policy recommendations, non-violent communication, conflict transformation and peace-building on local level To stimulate non-formal learning techniques To promote the respect of diversity, intercultural, and inter-religious dialogue To give information on Erasmus+ and EU opportunities. In essence, we achieved our aim to cultivate a network of skilled and informed youth workers who are equipped and motivated to actively contribute to peace-building efforts within their communities and beyond.
