The Network Vote16 was a three-day meeting designed to facilitate collaboration and the exchange of best practices among youth councils (national and regional) across Europe on the topic of Vote-16. Vote-16 refers to the movement advocating for lowering the voting age to 16. By bringing together 20 youth workers from nine different EU countries, the project provided a platform for sharing experiences, learning from each other's initiatives, and establishing networks for ongoing collaboration and support. Participants were asked to bring information related to Vote-16 from their respective countries to present during the meeting. This included details on current voting age policies, ongoing or planned interactions with government officials and stakeholders, public sentiment regarding lowering the voting age, challenges faced in advocating for Vote-16, as well as the support and resources needed for effective advocacy. This information was shared with other youth councils during the discussions with the aim to learn from each other and create synergies among our work.
