By implementing this project, our main aim was to adapt vocational education and training in the field of building joinery installation to new labour market needs and to the challenges resulting from climate change. Our objective was to develop a new, innovative vocational course that would combine industry practice with modern digital teaching methods and increase the effectiveness of training. We sought to improve the competences of teachers, instructors and learners in the areas of passive construction, energy-efficient technologies, and the proper installation of joinery without thermal bridges. We also wanted to develop new teaching methods, increase the attractiveness of VET, strengthen international cooperation between partners, and create open educational materials that could continue to be used after the end of the project. Another important objective was to support Erasmus+ priorities, especially the quality of vocational education and training, the adaptation of education to labour market needs, and the green transition.
We applied for this project because we identified a clear gap in vocational education and training in the field of installing energy-efficient and passive building joinery. The labour market currently expects installers to have practical competences in modern technologies, the reduction of thermal bridges, and the principles of low-emission construction, while the existing training offer was too theoretical, fragmented, and not sufficiently adapted to the current needs of the sector. The project also addressed the lack of modern teaching materials, multimedia resources, and a hybrid learning model combining theory with practice. Another important need was to improve the competences of teachers and instructors and to increase access to attractive vocational education for young people and adults, including participants with fewer opportunities. Through international cooperation, we wanted to create a new open course responding to the real labour market needs in Belgium and Poland.
