Objectives

With “ReThink Your Choice Vol.3,” our goal was to bring together young people from Belgium, Curaçao, and Georgia to raise awareness about environmental issues and explore how art can play a role in protecting our planet. This was the third part of a youth exchange series we’ve built together, and for this one, we focused on something very creative and meaningful: ecological (or recycle) art. We wanted to show that art doesn't always need new materials you can create something beautiful and powerful using recycled and reused items, and at the same time, send a strong message about sustainability. Our main objectives were: Explore the concept of Recycle Art (Eco Art) and create eco-art objects; Inform young people about the potential of recycled materials for creating art; Promote waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and upcycling of materials by the example of Eco Art; Advocate for the use of Eco Art as a means to improve employability opportunities; Promote the Erasmus+ programme opportunities. We wanted this project to be more than just a one-time event. Our hope was to inspire long-term change in how we think about the environment and what each of us can do in our daily lives whether it’s through creating eco-art, reducing waste, or spreading the message in our communities. By using non-formal education methods like teamwork, creative workshops, and meeting local eco-artists, we created a learning space that was both fun and eye-opening. And by organizing follow-up activities in our home countries, we aim to keep this message going and reach even more people. At the heart of it all, we simply wanted, youth workers & young people to rethink our choices, be creative, and take action for a more sustainable future, while also concluding the cycle of our three youth exchange projects dedicated to ecological awareness. Each of these projects was hosted in one of the three participating countries, giving around 75% of the same group of young people the chance to experience different roles, host the project locally, and explore a new topic with fresh perspectives.
