Objectives

This summary is co-written from the perspective of Israe Aiach, a youngster with experience in Youth Exchanges and a passionate commitment to shape the objectives of this project. The ‘we’ in which she refers, highlights not only Israe's identification as one of the youngsters. She also switches and puts herself into a leadership role. This illustrates the resilience we witness daily and want to work with in this project. The young people involved in this project share a common commitment - they invest a lot of themselves in others. With this exchange, we want to focus mainly on uncovering talents and skills. Who they are and what they want to mean for themselves and others in this world. A world where a lot is imposed on you, there is much that you "should" do because you belong to a certain group. By physically distancing ourselves from this, we become more aware of who we want to be, without those influences and expectations from outside. Constructing our sense of self with the support of the group and serving as a source of inspiration for others along the way. Strengthening self-awareness and self-confidence in leadership skills is the goal and can only happen if we as young people step out of our comfort zone. We see it as a process that is in its baby steps. Encountering yourself and searching again in such a short time is not entirely possible, but it is a starting point to be consciously and unconsciously engaged with it after the exchange. We follow their individual process and that of the group and adjust the project during the process. "Challenge by choice" is a core value. Most young people are vulnerable young people who do not get all the opportunities and privileges in their current environment as most wealthy young people do. That is why pushing boundaries in our far-from-'their'-bed-show is so important. They are challenged to be independent and take responsibilities. We want to help the young people who join us to find themselves, their pride, and each other. We do believe that there is a leader in everyone, but do they also recognize this? And their environment? That's what we're going to work on.
