Objectives

The Soul Food project aimed to support young people facing socio-emotional challenges by providing them with a transformative outdoor adventure experience. The project sought to uplift their spirits, foster self-awareness, and enhance resilience through experiential learning in nature. By engaging in activities like climbing, hiking, caving, and cultural food exchange, participants were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. Key objectives included: - Helping participants explore their personal challenges and strengths. - Encouraging connections with peers from different cultural backgrounds. - Enhancing problem-solving skills and self-confidence. - Providing insights into different cultural contexts and fostering intercultural understanding. - Creating an informal and supportive space for young people to navigate emotional struggles. The project consisted of two stages: a 10-day camp in Belgium and a 5-day camp in Greece. Part 2 took place during Christmas, offering participants—especially those without family or with fractured family relationships—the experience of celebrating the holiday within the supportive “Soul Food family.” This provided them with a sense of belonging and warmth during what could otherwise be a difficult time. Ultimately, Soul Food nourished participants both physically and emotionally, equipping them with tools for personal growth while strengthening the capacity of the participating organizations in Adventure Education.
