The "Climate Crafters" project aimed primarily to empower and mobilize 26 young people from Belgium, Georgia, Mayotte, North Macedonia, and Croatia around sustainable waste management and climate awareness. This goal was successfully achieved. The youth effectively applied the practices they learned and actively participated in a community-centered outdoor event, the Dokfeesten (instead of the Gentse Feesten). The objectives of the project were successfully achieved: Raising awareness: Participants clearly increased their knowledge about climate change through workshops, interactive sessions, and collective reflection. They subsequently demonstrated more responsibility and engagement in making environmentally friendly choices in their daily lives. Building knowledge and skills: Thanks to practical activities such as collecting litter by canoe and creating artworks from recycled materials, the young people not only acquired theoretical knowledge but also developed creative, technical, and organizational skills. Active participation during the Dokfeesten: The young participants took part enthusiastically. They presented their work, engaged the audience, and effectively communicated their ideas to both festival visitors and organizers. Fostering cultural exchange: Collaboration between youth from diverse backgrounds resulted in a close-knit group where mutual understanding, respect, and friendship flourished. The exchange of perspectives on climate issues led to broader insights and collaborative solutions.
