Young Roma women and LGBTQ+ people often lack knowledge and information about their rights and access to them, especially when living in neighbourhoods and communities with scarce services. Information, knowledge and access to sexual and reproductive health are unfortunately not an exception. Through this seminar, we aimed to educate to young Roma and non-Roma women and members of the LGBTQ+ community on sexual and reproductive health and their right to access information and services about and related to their sexual health. We wanted to give participants resources and skills that they can take back to their communities and organizations in order to build more health- and rights conscious communities, as well as to advocate for equal access to rights and services for Roma women and LGBTQ+ people, through planning advocacy and educational actions and drafting recommendations for advocacy purposes. Our main objectives were to build a feminist “safer” space for knowledge exchange and personal support for Roma women and LGBTQ+ people; to increase the knowledge of Roma women and LGBTQ+ youth workers, and the ones who work with these communities on sexual and reproductive health and rights. As experiences and access to information and services vary from country to country, we also wanted to provide space for exchanging experiences of antigypsyism in dealing with the sexual and reproductive health of Roma women and LGBTQ+ people, and to identify best practices on local, national, and European levels. We also wanted to give an overview of the existing related policies and agreements and develop recommendations to different stakeholders addressing the issues related to the sexual health of Roma women and LGBTQ+ people identified during the seminar.
