Objectives

Our main goal in implementing the project was to create a comprehensive environment for the development of young people, which would simultaneously unite their personal growth, their social engagement and their professional realization. The project was conceived as a large-scale initiative that meets the key needs of young people in Europe today – the need for digital skills, social inclusion, access to new technologies, expanding employment opportunities and promoting active civic participation. Behind the choice of topics and activities was our long-standing observation that young people from smaller settlements, especially from regions with limited resources such as the Rhodope Mountains, often remain on the periphery of European processes and programs. Through the project, we wanted to remove these barriers, open up the space for their active inclusion and give them a chance to acquire skills and competences that will make them more competitive and confident in the future. Our main ambition was to provide participants with the opportunity to touch upon the most current topics of our time – digital transformation, blockchain technologies, environmental sustainability and nature conservation, social inclusion and equal rights – and to turn them into active ambassadors of these values in their communities. Within the five activities, the project sought to achieve several interrelated goals. Through the youth exchange “Youth Employment in Digital Era”, we wanted to show participants that digitalization is not a threat, but an opportunity that can open up new paths for career development and entrepreneurship. In the activity “Helping Youth from Small Towns and Villages”, we focused on reducing the gap between young people in big cities and those on the periphery, by promoting equal access to resources, education and opportunities. “Blockchain Technologies and Cryptocurrency” gave young people a chance to get acquainted with the new financial and technological realities, understanding both the opportunities and the risks of their use. In “Youth Empowerment for Equal Rights”, we worked to build a sense of social justice, respect for human rights and the principles of democracy, by teaching young people how to fight discrimination and inequalities. Through “Wildlife Monitoring and Citizen Initiative”, we drew attention to the connection between young people and nature, to the importance of preserving biodiversity and to the active participation of young people in environmental causes. Thus, each activity contributed to a larger vision – for young people to become active and responsible European citizens, ready to work for a sustainable and just future. At the heart of our project idea was the desire to support young people with fewer opportunities – those who come from rural areas, live in economically disadvantaged families or belong to ethnic minorities. We clearly realize that it is these groups that are most often left out of European opportunities, so our task was not only to include them, but also to give them additional support so that they can get the most out of their participation. We believe that the true power of a project is measured not only by the number of participants involved, but also by the extent to which it has managed to change the lives of those who usually face the greatest difficulties. In this sense, our goals were not limited to the transfer of knowledge, but also included building confidence, social skills and a sense of belonging. The project also directly responded to the strategic objectives set out in our accreditation, with an emphasis on promoting inclusion, intercultural dialogue, the development of digital competences and sustainability. We wanted to show that young people are not passive recipients of knowledge, but active drivers of change, who can create their own initiatives and have an impact on the society around them. Our approach was based on innovative methods of non-formal education, including group work, role-playing games, practical workshops and field activities, which turned learning into an experience and stimulated the personal responsibility of each participant. A key objective was also to create international partnerships that would go beyond the project. Cooperation with organizations from Turkey, Romania, Lithuania, Greece and other countries enriched the content of the activities and gave young people a chance to build lasting friendships and professional contacts. We believe that these partnerships are no less important a result than the training itself, because they guarantee sustainability and continuation of the set goals in the future. In the long term, the project aimed to have an impact on the community, which goes far beyond the mobilities – to create a new generation of young people who are confident, digitally literate, socially responsible and able to defend their rights and care for nature and their community.
