The primary objective of the project was to strengthen students’ environmental and conservation literacy while simultaneously advancing their STEM competencies through practical, research-driven learning experiences. By embedding environmental themes within STEM education, the initiative exposed students to real-world ecological challenges through an interdisciplinary approach. The project actively fostered critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills by engaging learners in experiments, field investigations, and data analysis. Furthermore, it cultivated sustainable thinking and a sense of responsibility toward the environment, enabling students to recognize their role in addressing global challenges. Through innovative teaching methodologies—including project-based learning, the integration of digital tools, and collaborative activities—the project modernized the educational process and significantly enhanced student motivation. As a tangible outcome, participants produced practical deliverables such as research reports, prototypes, and digital resources, all designed for application in real-life contexts.
We applied for this project because we recognize the urgent need to integrate environmental and nature conservation education into the school curriculum in an innovative and practical way. Climate change, loss of biodiversity, and environmental degradation are among the most pressing global challenges, and schools play a key role in preparing future generations to address them. By connecting these topics with STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), we aim to make learning more relevant, interdisciplinary, and solution-oriented, while also fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The project addresses several key needs, such as the lack of practical application of STEM, which makes it difficult for many students to see the connection between classroom material and the real world. This project links STEM concepts to environmental issues, making learning more meaningful and engaging. It also tackles insufficient environmental awareness. Traditional teaching often does not include practical, research-based approaches. Our project introduces innovative practices such as field studies, data analysis, and project-based learning.
