The project aimed to promote youth participation in the green transition through modern digital tools and transnational cooperation. This goal was achieved by building a sustainable network among young people, NGOs, and experts from Bulgaria and Türkiye, united around the platform GreenRays.org. The main activities included the creation of a web platform for non-formal environmental education, the development of the interactive map “Green Rays”, and the preparation of thematic modules on key topics such as climate change, sustainable consumption, recycling, and biodiversity. The platform features eight interactive learning modules with practical, youth-oriented content accessible to individuals and organizations. The “Green Rays” map highlights active initiatives and organizations from Bulgaria and Türkiye that promote ecological practices and partnership. Young people participated in testing the educational resources and provided feedback on the content. Partner organizations expanded their expertise in applying digital and non-formal learning approaches. The project contributed to the development of an accessible learning environment and created conditions for continued cooperation in the field of green education.
The “International Network of Green Ambassadors” was initiated in response to a clearly identified gap in environmental education formats and the growing need for innovative approaches to engage young people in sustainable development. Analyses conducted by ESPERO and DAGDER revealed that, despite high public awareness of climate change, there is a lack of structured youth engagement and practical understanding of the link between individual behavior and global environmental processes. Educational institutions have limited capacity to integrate environmental topics through non-formal methods and digital tools. At the same time, young people show a strong interest in interactive and visual learning that combines technology with real-life case studies. The project addressed these needs by establishing a transnational partnership for the exchange of good practices and creating digital content within an accessible online educational environment. The developed web platform and interactive map “Green Rays” provided opportunities for young people, organizations, and experts to connect within a shared network for green education, thereby contributing to the development of an active, aware, and sustainable generation of young citizens.
