Alcoholism affects individuals and societies globally, and its impact is shaped by different cultural, social and economic contexts. "Youth Voices Against Alcoholism" is a cultural project initiated by young people from Cypriot organisation, who have personally dealt with the challenges of alcoholism in their inner circles, they recognized the growing concern among their peers. Based on a combination of personal experience and a noticeable increase in alcohol-related incidents among young people, we decided to collaborate and launch this project. Our goal is to promote a broader dialogue about alcoholism. The wider consequences of alcoholism go beyond health problems. Due to myths and misinformation, young people face challenges in making informed decisions about alcohol consumption. As societal pressures mount, many young people turn to alcohol to cope with stress and anxiety. The need for global knowledge, communication, and resource sharing crosses national boundaries. The main goals of our initiative are to equip young people with a comprehensive understanding of alcoholism, promote cross-cultural dialogues, challenge and debunk common myths, and implement strategies for navigating life's challenges without the use of alcohol. Our specific objectives are: To raise awareness of the causes, effects and consequences of alcoholism. To disseminate factual information and dispelling myths about alcohol consumption and alcoholism. To promote intercultural dialogue and exchange of experiences with alcoholism and its impact in different societies. To understand the cultural, social and economic context in which alcoholism occurs in different countries. To provide participants with tools and resources to manage stress, anxiety and social pressure without the use of alcohol.
