Objectives

The Cyprus Forum 2024 - Policymaking Redefined project aimed to foster youth engagement in policymaking by providing young people with opportunities to directly interact with decision-makers, experts, and policymakers. The initiative was designed to bridge the gap between youth and institutional decision-making processes, promoting participatory democracy and active citizenship. The project sought to engage 340 young participants in policy discussions through structured activities. Initially, 10 thematic youth participation events were planned, but only 6 were approved and implemented within the Cyprus Forum 2024. These events covered key policy areas such as Technology, Transparency, Foreign Policy, Rule of Law, and Environmental Sustainability. Additionally, an extra activity was conducted at the Procedural Law Unit 4th Annual Symposium, further expanding outreach and engagement with young people interested in legal and institutional matters. A core objective of the project was to prioritize youth voices by facilitating direct interactions with policymakers, ensuring that young people were represented in decision-making dialogues. The project also aimed to enhance digital and physical outreach, ensuring broad participation, including marginalized groups and individuals with fewer opportunities. It contributed to the promotion of EU values, civic engagement, and democratic participation, empowering young individuals to take an active role in shaping policies that affect their lives. Through these efforts, the project strengthened democratic engagement, fostered a culture of policy dialogue, and equipped young people with the knowledge and skills necessary for meaningful civic participation.
